Pick a planner

Each one ends with a shopping list you can print or copy.

  • Interior paint

Walls and ceilings minus doors and windows, and the cheapest mix of can sizes.

  • Tile, grout and thinset

Tiles and boxes with waste, plus grout and thinset for your tile and joint size.

  • Wallpaper rolls

Strips per wall with the pattern repeat, packed into whole rolls.

  • Baseboard and trim

Pieces to buy with door openings removed, and which length costs least.

How it works

  1. Measure your rooms

Length and width of each room. Subtract islands, tubs or anything you are not covering.

  2. Enter the products

Copy the coverage and price from the box, can or roll label. Add up to three options to compare.

  3. Compare and print

See which option costs less in total, then take one shopping list to the store.

Why compare before you buy

Flooring, paint, tile and wallpaper are sold in whole boxes, cans and rolls, and every product packs a different amount. The option that looks cheaper per square foot is not always cheaper for your rooms.

Every planner lists its assumptions, like waste, rounding and overlap, so you can see why the order is larger than the area you measured.

$43.20 apart, only because boxes are sold whole.

Frequently asked questions

Are the planners free?

Yes. Every planner is free, with no account and no limit on projects.

Do you store my measurements?

No. Calculations run in your browser and your measurements are never sent to us. A planner can remember your last project in your own browser, and the Start over button clears it.

Are the results exact?

No. They are estimates based on your measurements and the assumptions shown on each page. Check the product label and confirm with your supplier before ordering.

Can I use metric units?

Yes. Use the Imperial and Metric switch above any planner. Values you already typed are converted.
